Awesome Allium That Will Delight Through the Seasons

The allure of Allium stems from their charming evolution. In spring, tight buds erupt from low basal foliage, signaling the promise of blooming baubles to come; later, aging blooms extend the show. From spring until the spent orbs succumb to the ravages of time and shatter, they keep us enthralled.

Sure, other bulbs are garden-worthy, but truth be told, Allium have always been my favorite. Click through for a celebration of all things Allium!
Fall is prime planting time for bulbs, yes, but so much more! Trees, shrubs, and many perennials and grasses establish best when allowed to develop strong underground root systems through the winter. Fall is also a fantastic time to step back and assess your garden, making plans for what's next.
