Learn How to Create a Fantastic Garden Using Simple Sketches
Share me!

When I pick up my pencil to doodle, my squiggles usually start morphing into plant shapes. I guess I’m a bit obsessed by the study of plants as shapes, textures, and masses, and by thinking about how to create balanced vignettes that are pleasing to the eye.

On a recent flight, I passed the time by churning out sketches of garden scenes; creating elevation-view sketches and then converting them into garden plans. I often draw using my iPad as well, but there’s something about actual, physical pencil-to-paper that's still the fastest and most freeing for me.

I’ve created a series of short videos that capture this sketching technique in real time—warts and all!

If that's not your bag and you'd like to "skip to the end" and get the goods—hop on over to our site. It's loaded with lots of designer planting combinations and you can search for plants or combos based on color and form, growing conditions, design preferences or needs.
Hope you're enjoying these fantastic summer days,
We're social and I'll bet you are too—let's connect!
