Take Dry Conditions in Stride and Look Fantastic Doing It
We want it all, don't we? Low-water, easy-care, and gorgeous too!
And we can have it, as
long as we take a little extra care and attention when deciding what to plant in our gardens. Below you'll find a sampling of plants and combos that are not only drought-tolerant, but relatively easy-to-grow without a lot of maintenance and/or guesswork.
Tips to keep in mind when deciding where to plant:
Full sun—the more, the better—they'll want at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day to thrive.
They'll need to be planted in well-drained soil.
Provide good air circulation around the plants.
A layer of 1/4 ten gravel makes an excellent dry-garden mulch; conserving moisture and looking
fine.
